Los Angeles Film Photographer | Fine Art Film | Los Angeles, CA | So Why Film?
People wonder why film photographers still exist when we are surrounded with new technologies of digital photography. Nowadays, we can get a ton of images of the same scene and get an instant gratification of seeing the image right away. We then upload the images in our computer and edit the ones we like the way we want it. With all the process we go through with digital photography, why use film?
For me, I choose film for my work because I love the look, the process and the outcome of it all. Film produces images the way I feel is more authentic, natural and timeless. The beauty, quality and aesthetics of film is hard to replicate into something captured digitally. The color and rendition of film is absolutely astonishing.
Shooting film helped me become patient and be a better observant to details, light and composition. I love how it slows me down to capture that perfect mood and emotions. Rather than shooting 100 digital frames to get that perfect shot, there is more thought into every single frame taken with film. Every frame is intentional, to invoke my viewers to feel and capture that ultimate moment.
Lastly, film helps me to become inspired and create art through vision and reality.
I shoot with a medium format Contax 645 and 80mm lens for weddings and lifestyle sessions. My go to film is Fuji 400h and Portra 400.
